Here's a panoramic view of the west-to-east
horizons captured at the Central Nevada Star Party 2013. Impossible to
miss the zodiacal light to the right - that's sunlight reflected on
cosmic dust, not artificial light of any kind.
Plus of course, the good old Milky Way arch overhead. I have been at
many many dark sites in the US and overseas, but it's extremely hard to
find one spot where there is complete absence of light pollution 360
degrees and not a single faraway light dome in sight. This is one of
such rare spots.
