2013 solar max' has not been as dramatic as the last, but it has certainly had its moments. Here are some images of a quiescent prominence that was quite active and a massive limb flare that produced a stunning surge prominence shot with a 4" ED refractor, Daystar ION 0.8A H-alpha filter and workhorse DMK 21AU618.AS.
