ESO announcement on E-ELT site

The European Southern Observatory has outlined the next steps in finalising a site for the European Extremely Large Telescope.

La Palma has a many options. The sky is so clean as Chile. The announcement of ESO is directed just to the fact that TMT is already in north hemisphere. Therefore, to have a better quality sky balance, they recomend Chile in South hemisphere. However, we are talking about a lot of extra advantages of la Palma. Besides, it is UE public money and that means if possible should be kept in the UE.
