On August 31, 2010 -- September 1, 2010, Jupiter Rises At 20:38 EDT / 00:38 UTC And Has A Magnitude Of -2.89. As Jupiter Rises The Moon Io Is Occulted By The King Of The Planets. The Emergence Of Io Will Take Place 2 1/2 Hours Later. Early In The Morning The Great Red Spot Will Be At Mid-Transit And So We Will Get To See The Transit From Start To Finish.
