On August 11-12, 2010, Jupiter Rises At 22:00 EDT / 02:00 UTC, And Has A Magnitude Of -2.80. Just After Jupiter Rises The Great Red Spot Is Just Past Mid-Transit And We Should Get To See The Last Half Of The Transit. Also We Have Europa Starting Into Eclipse And Will End Via Occultation Just Before Sun Rise.On August 12-13, 2010, Jupiter Rises At 21:56 EDT / 01:56 UTC And Have A Magnitude Of -2.81. If You Are Up All Night You Can Watch The Great Red Spot Transit From Start To Finish. Also Just After The Great Red Spot Is At Mid-Transit The Moon Ganymede's Shadow Will Start To Transit The Face Of Jupiter.
