PASADENA, Calif. — Hawkeye 360, a company flying a constellation of small satellites to geolocate radio frequency signals, announced a partnership May 22 with Windward, a company focused on maritime risks, to offer customers insights on the maritime environment.
HawkEye 360 completed commissioning of its first three satellites in February and unveiled its first radio signal mapping product in April. Hawkeye 360 will contribute RF data to Windward’s digital platform to help customers confirm a vessel’s location as reported by its Automatic Identification System (AIS) and to continue tracking the vessel if it turns its AIS off.
“We are excited to work with Windward to develop the next generation of time critical maritime domain awareness services,” John Serafini, Hawkeye 360 CEO, said in a statement. “The Windward relationship aligns with our strategy to partner with best in class organizations, servicing established markets that will significantly benefit from our first-of-its-kind global RF geolocation and analytic services.”
The partnership between HawkEye 360 and Windward is designed to offer countries, law enforcement entities, financial institutions and maritime insurers better understand the maritime environment on a global scale.
