In collaboration with industry leading institutions such as NASA, Colorado School of Mines, and led by United Launch Alliance, Lunar Outpost contributed on a whitepaper focused on extracting water from the Lunar permanently shadowed regions (PSRs) for use as rocket fuel. With a variety of specialized architectures necessary for such an endeavor the wide range of experts, spanning over 20 different start ups, commercial leaders, and leading research institutions, put their heads together to create a 171 page paper detailing one path to commercial propellant production on the Moon. This paper focuses on the technology that will be used, knowledge gaps that have been identified, as well investment opportunities in the burgeoning commercial Lunar space industry.
