Can you feel the burn? This picture from Alexander Gerst (ESA) shows the fiery fate of Progress 53, which burned up in the Earth’s atmosphere as planned yesterday after departing the International Space Station.
“Today one of our Progress cargo ships undocked & burned up in atmosphere. The fate of all vehicles w/o heat shield,” Gerst tweeted along with the picture.
The Russian supply ship is one of several that bring up food, supplies and equipment to the station periodically to keep the crews happy and healthy in orbit.
