Having made a burn on 20 December 2013, the day after it was launched, and a supplementary rocket engine burn on 7 January 2013, ESA’s Gaia astronomy mission finally entered a halo orbit around the L2 Lagrangian point after making a final engine burn on 14 January 2014.
