Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter, the talented and famously curvaceous singer-songwriter and actress more usually known as Beyoncé, is in hot water with the space community after using part of the ground control commentary made during the fatal Challenger Space Shuttle launch explosion for one of her music tracks. NASA has formally decried the sampling of this commentary for her track noting that tragedy “should never be trivialised.” The Challenger accident killed all seven crew aboard.
Comment by David Todd: While she might be known as “bouncy” in less refined circles, she might have trouble bouncing back from this one despite noting that she meant no offence. This writer made a similar mistake by reprinting an amusing, if admittedly bad taste, visual joke about the Columbia re-entry tragedy. A twitter storm erupted and he withdrew the post. He forgot that this fatal accident did, after all, also kill seven astronauts, causing pain and sadness to their family and friends.
