NASA prefers to lease launch pad 39A to SpaceX for usage certainty reasons

As expected, NASA has chosen to negotiate for the award of the lease of the ex-Space Shuttle and Apollo Launch Pad, Pad 39A. at the Kennedy Space Center to Space Exploration Technlogies (SpaceX) apparently due to usage uncertainty over the competitor bid from Blue Origin. In its statement, the Administration noted that Blue Origin had also wanted to use the pad and would, as part of its bid, also offer it to other users. Industry observers noted that ther uncertainty over this secondary use, and in the end NASA elected to lease the pad to SpaceX as a sole user with a full launch order book.
