The Chang’E 3 lunar lander and rover entered lunar orbit on 6 December. However, there has been some blowback in China about the Long March launch that carried it into space on 1 December. Specifically, parts of the rocket are reported to have hit the village of Shaoyang in Hunan Province downrange of the Xichange launch site. This is reported to have caused damage to housing and nearby forest and critics are now openly calling for a proper third party insurance scheme to be put in place to provide for compensation in such instances.
