Entertaining. Just what I needed. I don’t know why I didn’t expect things to work out the way they did. I was putting together a 20 meter qrp transceiver yesterday when I added some test point wires and one of them was nicked by a fingernail – and I KNEW IT! I tucked the wires between a couple of capacitors to keep them out of the way and sure enough the nicked section was up against an electrolytic lead. Yeah, blew that puppy when I tested the circuit. LOL.
I replaced the capacitor. Trouble is now I’m one short and since I probably will have to order it anyway I thought I’d see if I could collect parts for a six-meter cw transmitter (that six meter beacon idea hit a nerve). The only schematic I could find for a qrp rig takes an 8.35 Mhz crystal – not too ...
