They (NASA) call it “Ultra-high definition”; I just call it really nice!
I did get to see some of the transit. There was a lot of people around that saw it too, people I never would have expected to take an interest. One 11-year-old said “it was just a dot but it was really cool”. Space events really are pretty popular after all.
I wanted to put a scope on it, but by the time the clouds had parted enough to see the entire disk of the sun, it had gone behind the neighbors trees. I didn’t have a filter to my portable scope handy and didn’t think about building one. I did get to watch through a pair of binoculars fitted with filters and I was pretty pleased.
Funny thing happened too, well sort of, I realized yesterday there was no post on the day before. Oh sure ...
