Another exciting entry in the Visitors Book and another castaway's interesting voyage into Astronomy.1. How did you get inspired to take up Astronomy or Science?I believe I was 9 or 10 when Voyager II reached Saturn, which I found fascinating. By 1986 when Voyager II reached Uranus I was completely smitten. Seeing those images back then was very very cool. In the same year we had that live BBC broadcast with Giotto being peppered with debris as it tracked Halley. Looking back, I think the show was a disaster as far as mass spectacle went - but I had that show on tape for YEARS!2.When did you get your first piece of Astronomy equipment and what was it ?I was bought a 2.5" Tasco refractor for my 12th or 13th birthday. I only parted with it last summer. It gave me 30 wonderful years.3.What was the first thing you identified other than the Moon?Double stars. Double stars were my thing as a kid. So, it was probably Alcor and Mizar as all the astronomy books I had back then mentioned this 'famous double-star'.4.What is the most exciting astronomical experience you have had to date?It absolutely HAS to be 'discovering' Saturn. ...
