Vending machines in today’s times have been used rampantly in almost each and every country these days in some or the other form offering various varieties like alcoholic drinks, snacks, news papers and etc.
Now, even though each and everyone of us have used these vending machines at some or the other point of time in our life, very few of us know how did it actually come into being and how was it started using.
Many ancient sources say that a brilliant Greek physicist and mathematician called ‘Alexandria’ used a first form of a vending machine. The vending machine, which he constructed, was mainly used to dispense ‘the holy water’ to the people who inserted a coin in the machine as the source of currency in order to receive the water.
Ever since then, vending machines were not seen in use very prominently till the dawn of the industrial revolution. During this revolutionary phase, the first vending machine was used in the United Kingdom, which dispensed a postcard in return of a coin. Similarly in the U.S. the first vending machine used was that of gumballs in the year 1888.
