The Centre contains a museum that showcases the area’s history through the key themes of transport, climbing and the Hermitage Hotel. A special area is dedicated to the life and achievements of New Zealand’s most famous New Zealander, Sir Edmund Hillary, particularly his affiliation with Aoraki Mount Cook, New Zealand's tallest peak.
The Centre is located adjacent to the Hermitage Hotel in the majestic Aoraki Mount Cook National Park, one of New Zealand’s most important spiritual and cultural places, far from city lights.
